If the only way to see the work is “open the agent chat,” you still rent. Handoff is the discipline of packaging sources + exports + regenerate instructions.
Clients and future-you do not have your chat history. They have files. If a file is missing from handoff/, it does not exist for them.

What to leave out
- Chat transcripts and half-broken v0 drafts unless you need them for forensics
- API keys, .env, tokens, never in a handoff zip
- Full rejects/ dumps, keep only if the client asked for process proof
- Node_modules or render caches if you experimented with motion by mistake
